SWANA Accepting Proposals from October 1—November 8
Silver Spring, MD – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) invites individuals with novel ideas, approaches and solutions for addressing the solid waste industry’s pressing issues to submit a proposal for SWANApalooza 2020, scheduled for March 23-26 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Delivering practical solutions to the solid waste industry’s most difficult problems, SWANApalooza showcases the promising technologies, ideas and solutions that help to transform waste into a resource. This technical conference connects experts and problem-solvers in industry-changing conversations about the industry’s most complex challenges. “The focus of SWANApalooza is on delivering practical solutions, rather than theoretical ones,” said Meri Beth Wojtaszek, SWANA Deputy Executive Director.
Priority will be given to proposals that spark debate, learning and innovation; envision a future that promotes waste as a resource; and show participants a way to get there. SWANA seeks proposals that engage participants in the learning process; provide them with opportunities to reflect and integrate what they’re learning into their real-world, work-life situations; and get them problem solving with each other.
SWANA is making a special call for proposals related to PFAS contaminants and leachate collection and removal. Given emerging environmental concerns and increased EPA funding dedicated to PFAS research, SWANApalooza 2020 will get ahead of the broad range of PFAS-related issues. “We’re looking for fresh content, including the latest information on PFAS research, emerging state and local regulatory action, changes to landfill operations, and examples of successful collaboration with wastewater treatment facilities,” noted David Biderman, Executive Director & CEO.
Additionally, SWANA welcomes proposals for a new concept being launched at SWANApalooza 2020 – crowd-sourced, problem-solving forums – through which presenters will outline a problem in 15 minutes and then leverage the collective expertise of forum participants to solve it.
Proposals must be submitted by Friday, November 8, 11:59 p.m. Central Time for consideration. Visit SWANApalooza.org for more details.
