Sodexo Acquires Leading Swiss Caterer Novae Restauration

Sodexo, leader in Quality of Life services, announces the acquisition of Novae Restauration, significantly expanding its footprint in the attractive Swiss market.

 

Founded in 2003, Novae Restauration is the leading independent player in high-end catering services for Frenchspeaking Switzerland, with 700 employees serving a network of over 80 prestigious client sites. Novae Restauration’s high-end positioning matches current trends and market demand. Their unique and responsible sourcing ecosystem delivers premium products through a network of local producers, farmers and distributors. Novae Restauration’s daily menus include 80 percent fresh ingredients with at least 50 percent of local products.

 

Novae Restauration and Sodexo Switzerland have complementary client portfolios and offers: Novae Restauration’s comprehensive offer of premium catering services complements Sodexo Switzerland’s position as a facilities management provider on the German Swiss market, providing the opportunity to develop a fully integrated services offer. There is strong potential for commercial synergies for the combined entity in terms of crossselling and development across German and French speaking markets.

 

Novae Restauration will continue to operate under its name and the experienced operational management team will stay with the business to drive future growth, particularly in the corporate, institutional and education sectors, under the leadership of Christian Volmerange from Sodexo, who is appointed Managing Director for Novae Restauration, effective immediately. He will be supported by Maxime Ballanfat during the next 6 months.

 

SODEXO VENTURES ANNOUNCES NEW INVESTMENT IN AEYE-GO

 

Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life services, announces its strategic venture capital vehicle, Sodexo Ventures, has invested in AEYE-GO, a Chinese technology company focusing on smart visual checkout systems. First investment in innovative Chinese start-up ecosystem that includes food and facial recognition technology that can speed up queues, and offers personalized nutrition information for consumers that drives efficiencies for clients.

 

Launched in 2016, Sodexo Ventures seeks new sources of future growth by investing in and partnering with innovative startups and creating new offers for clients and consumers. The investment in AEYE-GO is the first in China, facilitated by the partnership with Shanghai-based incubator X-Node signed in May.

 

AEYE-GO is a cutting-edge selfcheckout system based on AI image recognition technology, offering both tray and facial recognition options for fast and personalized check-outs. Using sophisticated high-definition cameras, AEYE-GO integrates machine learning software for food recognition, automatically providing price and nutritional information with a quick glimpse of a consumer’s tray.

 

Currently piloted at several Sodexo sites in Shanghai, AEYE-GO plans to expand operations in China and internationally, leveraging Sodexo’s geographic reach to rapidly scale up.
