EarthSafe Partners with Beijing Kanghai Yingda to Help Stop the Spread of Coronavirus

In an effort to mitigate the coronavirus outbreak, EarthSafe Chemical Alternatives partnered with Beijing Kanghai Yingda Medical Equipment Co., Ltd. to expedite distribution of its EvaClean Infection Prevention System throughout China, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Braintree, MA – February 2020 – The 2019 Novel Coronavirus, now called COVID-19, will soon reach global pandemic proportions. China’s death toll has already surpassed severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS.) The virus’ ease of transmission and alarming rate of spread now has researchers tracking cases in real-time.

Before the general public was even aware of the outbreak, a Massachusetts-based infection prevention company led by renowned entrepreneur RJ Valentine had already begun collaborating with a Chinese medical equipment supplier to mitigate the growing public health crisis.  As the ink was still drying on the partnership between EarthSafe and Beijing Kanghai Yingda Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., the new master distributor for its EvaClean infection prevention and control solution in China, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan, plans were already in action.

Owner and General Manager of Beijing Kanghai Yingda Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., Mr. Yang said, “We believe this alliance will help end the current public health emergency, as well as prevent future public health threats from arising.”

Kanghai Yingda and EarthSafe have been working to expedite delivery of EvaClean products to China mainland, including hundreds of its Protexus handheld and backpack electrostatic disinfection sprayers.

Jeremiah Gray, EarthSafe Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer said, “We’re grateful to have found a Chinese ally in time to help. Every available product we have is being diverted to Kanghai Yingda for the duration.”

Though EarthSafe developed a proprietary line of infection prevention technologies, sudden high demand created a national supply shortage of electrostatic sprayers, prompting them to enlist additional support in the interest of protecting public health. EarthSafe is working closely with Victory Innovations, who manufactures some of Evaclean’s portable electrostatic equipment, to accelerate production and deliver as many sprayers as possible to help stem the ongoing crisis.

While advanced electrostatic sprayers are much more efficient than other application methods, the disinfectant is the real key to stopping coronavirus. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes surfaces as a vector for transmission of coronaviruses and announced the emerging pathogen policy was now in effect.  This means if a disinfectant has a kill claim against a similar virus, it may be used in the event of a declared epidemic resulting from new or emerging viral pathogens. The EPA also established List-K identifying products effective against Clostridium difficile (C. diff), Candida auris (C. auris), and other emerging pathogens, like COVID-19.

EarthSafe built its entire EvaClean program around one disinfectant, a hypochlorous acid (HoCl)-based chemistry derived from sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC.)  Not only is this chemistry EPA List-K approved as a sporicidal disinfectant for hard surfaces, but it has a top-level 2c classification with four kill claims against non-enveloped viruses, which are the most difficult pathogens to kill.  It’s also the first chemistry to receive EPA registration as effective against bacteria present in biofilm, another potential contamination source, particularly in healthcare environments. Yet, this chemistry is as safe as it is powerful, much more so than most sporicidal disinfectants used today.  From this one chemistry, EarthSafe developed two versions of disinfectant products—PURTABS for electrostatic sprayers and PUR:ONE for other application methods like microfiber, wipes or spray bottles.

“At this point, our priority is ensuring the disinfectant is applied by whatever means necessary, whether it’s our electrostatic sprayers, someone else’s, or every day pump sprayers,” said Gray. “It’s an all hands-on deck team effort now.”

To beat this rising global pandemic, it will take disruptive technologies and chemistries, as well as strategic alliances and collaborations from every sector and territory around the world.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General, stated upon declaring the coronavirus outbreak a global health emergency, “Share data, knowledge and experience with WHO and the world.  The only way we will defeat this outbreak is for all countries to work together in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation. We are all in this together, and we can only stop it together. This is the time for facts, not fear. This is the time for science, not rumors. This is the time for solidarity, not stigma.”
